The Lower Ninth Ward is home to Café Dauphine, a white-table cloth restaurant in a renovated corner store. With a degree in biology from Xavier University, scientist-turned-chef Tia Henry runs the dining establishment with her husband Fred in the neighborhood where the Henry family has lived for almost 80 years. Originally from Lake Charles, Chef Tia learned to prepare the soulful food of southwest Louisiana from her mother and grandmother.
