Located in downtown New Orleans, Gianna is a stylish Italian dining establishment from the Link Restaurant Group. The restaurant, which opened in 2019, is named for the grandmother of chef-partner Rebecca Wilcomb. The chef’s parents met in the Veneto region of Italy, where her grandmother still lives, when her father was stationed there in the Army. Chef Rebecca worked in professional kitchens in the Boston area before moving to New Orleans in 2008. She found a home at Herbsaint, the flagship of the Link Restaurant Group, becoming chef de cuisine of the restaurant in 2011. In 2017 she was honored by the James Beard Foundation with a Best Chef: South award. The food of her family’s home in northern Italy helped shape the menu at Gianna, but Chef Rebecca also mines the broad sweep of Italian food traditions and flavors at the restaurant. Gianna has been nominated for a 2020 James Beard Best New Restaurant award. Winners will be announced in September.
