Piece of Meat in Mid-City is a butcher shop and bistro that sells custom-cut meats along with a menu of sandwiches, snacks and sides. Co-owner Leighann Smith, is a California transplant who earned the title “Meat Mama”, when she ran the charcuterie and butchering operation at the contemporary Cajun restaurant Cochon. Leighann Smith and her partner Daniel Jackson have turned the corner shop into a hot spot for meat-centric specialties, earning it a place on Food and Wine magazine’s list of best new restaurants in 2019.
