Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Christina do Carmo Honn has spent much of her life researching and cooking food. From a young age her grandmother, who is of Portuguese decent, encouraged her culinary interests. Chef Christina received a degree in education, but left teaching to pursue a career as a cook. After moving to the United States in 1998, she ended up in San Francisco, working in some of the Bay Area’s finest restaurants. Chef Christina and her husband Dana landed in New Orleans and opened Carmo, a tropical restaurant in the Warehouse District. The couple also operate Café Cour in the courtyard of the Historic New Orleans Collection’s exhibition center. The French Quarter museum café showcases the region’s multi-cultural culinary influences.
