Located in the Fairgrounds Neighborhood of Mid-City, Toast is a casual breakfast spot established by Chef Cara Benson and her husband Evan. Chef Cara, who grew up in New Orleans, is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute of New York, where she trained in professional pastry arts. The couple opened Tartine, a French-style Uptown sandwich shop in 2010 and Toast in Uptown New Orleans in 2014. Chef Cara says her greatest influence is her grandmother, a native of Luxembourg who prepared traditional French food in her home in St. Francisville, Louisiana.
